Unpopular fandom opinion: White Collar-- eh, turning into a typical cop show. They wouldn't really use a civilian in that red dress, and why wouldn't the bad guy know they found his stash? Also the whole thing with Peter's boss and Neal is kinda obvious. Oooh, boss is going to be dumb and proven wrong and made to look like a fool. They do make great use of the cityscape though.

I have to go get my oil changed and then buy Halloween candy. I don't think I'll get trick or treaters though. Nothing like waiting till the last minute, eh? ;)

Wow, Dollhouse is getting worse ratings than Supernatural. I find that surprising. I wonder if that was a rerun of Dollhouse.

Because y'all were talking about it, I watched the premiere of White Collar. Man, that Neal guy has blue BLUE eyes. O.O I was kind of mesmerized and would forget what he was saying. I thought the plot was only so so though-- definitely not the immediate love I had for Burn Notice and Glee. Too many art heist/conman shows lately. That seems to be the new trendy thing. moonilicious reminds me the Neal actor was on Traveler too, a show canceled before its time. Also myepisodes.com seems like an interesting and useful site for tracking your TV viewing habits, though they could make the interface more user-friendly. It might actually inspire me to catch up on some older DVDs I have in my bookcase.

Has anyone ever booked a hotel room through Priceline bidding? When is the best time of month to bid, in order to get accepted? I know the price I entered was fair because I saw someone on a review site say that's what they paid, but my bid wasn't accepted. Hrm. Could be because it's a holiday week, though I'd think Monday night was the least popular time.

So people who use Adobe Acrobat... my Adobe has this option to "save as text" for pdfs, which is awesome for me to convert things and put them on my ebook reader, but I don't remember that always being an option. Is that standard for version 9.0.1 or did I manage to hack my Adobe somehow? (It's entirely possible I managed to accidentally hack it. I've been trying to find a way to convert pdfs for a while and it's possible I installed something that added this option without me realizing that it actually worked. I R GEENUS!) I guess I need to make sure I don't upgrade it now. Also I got my assignments to judge for the erotica contest. Hee! I think one of them used to be a SPN/J2 fanfic, but I am not sure. Luckily I wasn't assigned anyone I knew, because I realized as I was going through the covers that there were about 2-3 authors who I recognized from fandom. And speaking of covers, OMG, they're kind of almost all the same, aren't they? Especially for m/m stories. Too many headless torsos! And if I can't read the title of your book because the font is too swirly, you're doing it wrong! /rantishess. (I should probably flock this post now. Hrm.)

So had my first mammogram yesterday. Either I looked scared out of my mind or the technician saw something scary in the scans because she kept petting me-- stroking my arm or my back. I'm sure it was meant to be comforting, but I just found it a little awkward. I think the most annoying thing about the whole endeavor was that I couldn't wear deodorant.

So, those of you who have been to San Antonio, tell me about Riverwalk. Are there any "must see" attractions there? Favorite restaurants? Things to avoid? We're also going to the Alamo, so that's a given. But is the Tower of the Americas any good? Any horror stories about any of the hotels in the area? Bedbugs? *shudders and has Vancon flashback*

winchestercon put up their Vid Show post here. Of the ones I've watched so far, this one is my favorite. It actually makes sense of all the Dean!angst from last season.

I am plowing through a fanfic (which is actually kind of hard to read) mostly because it's been recced around a lot recently. Not sure why I'm finding it such a hard read. A lot of the meaning and emotions behind the dialogue keep getting lost to me so I find myself rereading each line several times to try and "get" it. Does this ever happen to anyone else, or would y'all just give it up? I think with this fic it has to do with confusion over who's thinking and feeling what and why. And the sentence construction and punctuation. Okay, never mind. It just took a turn into kind of ridiculous that I can't buy.

Then the next fic I set out to read said it was 54,000 words long, yet it stops abruptly about 11,000 words in. :/ I think I'm not meant to be reading today. I was in the mood for a long fic too.

I'm surprised this hasn't been all over my flist: Luck in the Shadows and Lynn Flewelling's two sequels have been optioned for film. It's a small production co. I've never heard of, so we'll see if they actually come out, but wouldn't it be great?

So work has a new internet policy that basically boils down to "we're blocking all social networking, youtube, shopping and fun sites." I can send tweets from my phone and read my email (in other words, I can read LJ comments to me and tracked posts, but not reply) but that's pretty much all. Basically I'll be nonexistent around here from about 2:30 in the afternoon till 1:00 am. They don't seem to realize that the occasional LJ break (other sites for other coworkers) not only improves morale, but it actually helps some of us concentrate better. Ah well, on the upside I guess I don't have to worry about getting spoiled for SPN tonight or what my flist thinks of the episode. :/

But maybe you guys could suggest some "work safe" sites to waste my time on instead? *puppyeyes* I mean news sites are a given, but I'm sure you clever people can think of fun sites that will get around this policy without actually breaking it. I should email myself fanfic. Well, I have an ebook reader for that. ;)

Picking this is probably the hardest one of all, since y'all know I've been pimping my ebook reader recently. (Still love it!) I decided to combine both ebooks and fanfic. There's this site called The Ebook Library which houses fanfic from a number of fandoms formatted for ebook readers. The biggest collection is, of course, Supernatural, (with SGA being a close second) but there are a few other fandoms represented as well. It's run by amothea.

I share fic recs a lot, so y'all get your fill of those, I'm sure. Though if you want to convince me to upload an actual eBook... I might be persuaded.

GLEE! just totally made me cry.

My cat Spooks loves this toy so much it's silly. I don't even have to do anything-- she'll play with it all by herself for like an hour. I should buy a few more. It's so simple too. Rolls of cardboard threaded on some wire. She'll pick it up by one end to carry it, then get freaked out and pounce on the other end when it follows her. So cute!

So it's official. No Colorado for me. I switched my ticket to Texas for Thanksgiving. I'm actually kind of excited about this because I haven't seen my sister in a couple years and I've never been to Texas. Apparently there is Renaissance Festival plans and we might take an overnight trip to San Antonio to see the Alamo and Riverwalk too. *glee* But I'm still kinda sad about not getting to visit loose_pages_sd and tameiki1 in Colorado. :/
