My swan will bite you if you get too close. *chomp chomp*
Fun things today: Woke up to find the water was off in the condo. After a few phone calls, discovered it was off in the whole building. Apparently there is something wrong with our sprinkler system in the courtyard, so instead of calling for repairs, someone just SHUT OFF the water to the whole building. >.<

A car repair I've been putting off for about a month because I thought it would be expensive and time consuming took me a half hour and $20 to get fixed today. *facepalms so hard*

Once again I bash my head at the illogic of [info]dean_sam. *bash bash bash* Dear anonymouse: Perhaps I am a member of the community for the same reason you lurk there. Not to mention sometimes I pull [info]spnroundtable recs from there. Not everything is crossposted all over and I don't want to join 18 fuckjillion communities.

Dear Community Mod Who Shall Not Be Named, using a spoilery icon all over a post where you're trying to prove that your community really truly isn't biased against spoilerphobes just proves my point for me. Not that anyone would know since you deleted the post, but thanks for proving my point anyway.

This is also perhaps a good time to mention that I subscribe to the LJ friending and defriending amnesty newsletter. No drama from this quarter and no explanation needed.

However-- *snickers* See? SEE? We SPN fans aren't really that bad. =P

Most of you won't get this, but... )

Hmmm, many of the Black Phoenix Halloweenies scents sound tempting this year. Except last year's were really disappointing to me for some reason. Will sniff them first at the will-call before breaking the bank! (Hunter, you still want the Snow Glass Apples chapbook, right? If not, I'mma sell it on ebay.)

Green Eggs and Spam, Sam I am?
Why is all the gay porn these days of the Corbin Fisher variety. God, I hate that shit. Even gaypornforgirls seems to have faded into the sunset. Give me a little plot with my porn, please. (Am I the only one who sometimes imagines my favorite actors/characters in place of the porn actors? y/n? No? Just me then?)

I have joined fuelly. It looks like a nifty way to track your gas mpg and spending and so on. (Plus it does the math for you! \o/) I track that stuff anyway, but I'm actually too lazy to do the calculations, so I have all these receipts with the millage written on them, but no statistics. Here's me.

Most of you probably won't remember that my headlight went out a couple of months ago, then it mysteriously popped back on. It went out again three weeks ago. I've been really bad about getting it fixed. Promised my dad I'd have it taken care of by this weekend. :( Then I found out the guy who does wiring for Pep Boys won't be in till Monday. The dealer's service undergarment department (spellcheck ftmfw! \o/) was already closed by the time I called and my mechanic is closed until Tuesday. I feel like I fail at life this week.

SPN comic book thoughts: I've been buying the Supernatural comics ever since they first came out. But somehow I can't bring myself to read them-- mostly because of the huge glaring canon error in the second issue. I guess it really pissed me off. Yet I still faithfully buy them. WTF, self?

iPod meme:
I'll shuffle my iPod .
Give me a number between 1 and 443.
I upload the correlated song for you.

I'll even be nice and leave out the podfic.

Unpopular fannish opinion: Generation Kill )

Spoiler question for those who saw the SPN preview: Do you remember if Dean had his amulet on when he came back?

I wonder what Dean used to do when he had nightmares as a boy. Also I think Green Eggs and Ham was Sam's absolute favorite books as a child and he made Dean read it over and over and over to him:

I do not like them here or there.
I do not like them anywhere.
I do not like green eggs and ham.
I do not like them, Sam-I-am.

(Though nothing beats Fox in Socks. Dean used to con Sam into asking John to read that one.)

Oh, there's my squee. *picks it up and dusts it off*
I'd vote for this guy if I lived in Kansas.

Oh, glee! Coffeemate has brought back their chai creamer in the big bottles! *dances* (They also had something called Black Cherry Streusel or something like that, which I think is a bid to cash in on the popularity of the Blueberry Cobbler. I bought one so we'll see how it tastes.)

I am so glad it's finally Friday
I think I have fallen a little bit in love with Neil Patrick Harris over the past month. I was surprised that he's such a great singer.

Wow, just a few weeks ago, Disney was supposed to buy it, but now it looks like Fanlib is shutting down.

*snickers* I have confirmation that I actually work with fanbois. Work has been slow lately so I stuck some videos and such on my flash drive to watch at work. One of which was Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog. Of the four guys I work with, two of them recognized it and one of them asked for a copy. Hee!

Supernatural Meets the Muppets. Your childhood will never be the same. ^___^ (I wanna know where the porn pictures came from.) (Um, technically NSFW)

Very bestest of birthdays to one of my favorite subversive suburbanites [info]deirdre_c. You are a gift to us, m'dear.

Hey, June's over!
Things that make me laugh out loud... seeing an author post on SPN_storyfinders looking for some fics to read and then she got her own stories rec'd back to her.

Bidding is open at [info]livelongnmarry. I have bid and been outbid already.

Oh, Viacom is being a little bitch. I'm glad I mostly watch user created SPN vids over there. Take that, Viacom!

I thought I mentioned watching the Fringe pilot (New series from JJ Abrams, ie: the "Lost" guy) but I don't see the post, so maybe my LJ client ate it. Anyway, it was a pretty good pilot. I liked the lead woman. ([info]poisontaster I think you would like her too.) Hopefully she'll stay strong and smart. I'm not a fan of Joshua Jackson but he was tolerable here. It's got the conspiracy of the X-files mixed with the mystery of Lost, topped with some nifty special effects. (Also re: leaked pilots... *snickers* I almost wish they'd leaked Dollhouse instead. Two show that look like they've got massive budgets-- which one will get canceled first? And why didn't they keep New Amsterdam? That show was awesome.)

I may have bought myself an iPod for my birthday. Then had buyer's remorse immediately afterwards. Ah well, it was cheap refurbished and I can plug it into my car. Anyone got any suggestions for how I can prevent iTunes from putting its DRM all over my music? (I suppose I should go figure out just exactly what iTunes does, actually.)

Hmm, I've been pondering the definition of RPS AU fanfic recently. Isn't all RPS by its very existence AU? I mean these guys aren't in a romantic relationship with each other in real life. Is there a different meaning of AU that I'm not getting here? [info]loose_pages_sd is setting up a delicious for specifically those stories, but to me all RPS would fall under that umbrella. But it seems that I'm the only one who thinks that. And [info]janissa11 has a post discussing this genre, so what is the definition of RPS AU? With Sam/Dean slash, you can imagine that things take place off-screen but still in the universe, but for RPS you don't have that layer of fantasy because everything either happens or it doesn't. Am I being too literal?

Okay, I need to go feedback a couple of [info]spn_j2_bigbang stories and art, then figure out what I'm doing with my weekend. House cleaning is definitely on the agenda though. And pricing some air-conditioning. And reading-- I'm so behind on the things I want to read. Everyone have a happy Friday. :)

A post for Scribbles...
*peeks head out* Is the wankstorm over? (In browsing around the SPN misogyny wank, I did manage to find someone who I would wish into a cornfield though. /o\ Go me?) I do have thoughts on the matter, but I don't know if I feel like sharing them with the class. I don't like getting in disagreements with friends. Strangers are fine to disagree with because there usually isn't any lingering fallout and it's easy to just walk away. But that's also probably because I don't care about their opinions, whereas I do care about the opinions of my friends. It's funny that the OMG!misogyny side is screaming about being condescended to, yet in my browsing around and occasional commenting, I found that the worst offender of arrogance and condescension was by one of their most vocal members. I was basically attacked and had words and assumptions made about my motives that were completely inaccurate. For the record, I don't see misogyny in SPN. I use the word bitch all the time, pretty much exclusively to describe women-- especially the ones who cut me off in traffic (a much lesser offense than Ruby or Bela are guilty of). Why should I hold a double standard for fictional characters? I don't see what other words Dean could/would/should have used. Tell me, O flist, what derogatory slurs should he have used instead? People in fandom call Dean a "slut" all the time. Is that misogyny? Or is it an effort to morph the word into having a less-gendered meaning? What about the Bitch/Jerk exchange. In that context it's okay, even celebrated in fandom. Please explain to me why that's okay, but using a slur as a slur isn't. (Rhetorical question, unless you really feel the need to answer) This link has a pretty good summary of my thoughts on the matter though.

The Storm!cats have been chasing a fly around the condo off and on for two hours. Mighty hunters they are not. I may have to invest in a flyswatter. (Also I think my screen door must have a gap, because how did the fly get in?)

A NSFW link to the Penis Festival. Hehehehe. *is twelvest*

I've been getting someone scanning my computer ports for the past week (or so my firewall tells me) and my virus protection found a "back-door trojan" in some files that I think it successfully quarantined. Is there any way for me to check for sure? I've run couple of virus checks and nothing was found, but I'm still a little concerned about it.

I'm really looking forward to having three days off. My big plans for tomorrow are to sit at the mechanics for about three hours while I get some maintenance done on Icarus. Or I may walk to the movie theater and catch a flick while they're working, but I'm not sure if the schedule will work out right for that-- have to check what movies are playing. If I can motivate myself to get up early enough I may go pick up some dim sum at NBC and reward myself for the tedium in advance.

Burn Notice starts up again July 10th. Must remember this.

[info]frayen! I know you've gotten into anime recently, but are you reading manga? If so, I need to pimp you Banana Fish. It's far and away my favorite manga. I'm thinking I should reread it this summer. Anyone else on my flist up for a group reading? I could set up a community and we could read a couple volumes each month and have discussions and links and things. Bueller?

Also! I almost forgot. LJ elections for the advisory board have started! You have till the 29th to vote. I think if you have a paid or permanent account you can vote once for each account, but I'm not real sure. It might be once per email address. It's a little confusing. Also I have my doubts about how effective it they will be, but as I'm not as invested in LJ as I have been in the past I figure what the heck.
